Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. is playing at The Joseph Melillo Middle School on Friday, July 26,2013 and Saturday, July 27,3013 at 7:00 pm. The 60–minute musical, designed for middle and high school aged performers, is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. The East Haven Arts Commission is sponsoring the production with support from the East Haven Youth Services Bureau and the LeFevre Foundation. The cast contains approximately 25 students directed by college aged directors Kari Collins, Robyn Genzano, Richard Colon and Lauren Higgins under the mentorship of adult professionals.

This classic Disney title contains all of the songs from the Academy Award® winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show. THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. takes place in a magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel, played by Grace McGovern, longs to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch, played by Haley Maruca, and convince a prince, played by Nick Carrano, that she’s the girl with the perfect voice. She is helped on her quest by her best friends Flounder, played by Jenna Juliano, Scuttle played by Madeline Valdez, and Sebastian played by Luis DeJesus.

The performance of Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. is open to the public at Mellilo Middle School, 67 Hudson St. East Haven, CT on July 26th and 27th at 7:00 pm. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens and youth under age 12. For ticket information call (203) 468–7164.
