During Memorial Day weekend, Town of East Haven Lifeguard Shannon Wynne made a life saving rescue of a 3 year old child at the East Haven Town Beach. While on duty, Shannon a graduate of East Haven High School, who will be attending Central Connecticut State University in the fall, observed two children who looked like they may be actively drowning. She immediately jumped off her stand and ran toward the distressed children, followed closely by one of the mothers. Shannon grabbed the three year old and pulled her out of the water while the parent pulled out the other. Ms. Wynne noted the children were only in a couple of feet of water, but because of high tide there was a sudden drop and the children were no longer able to touch the ground.
