Providing Adult and Family Support Services to Residents in Need.

SERVICES

• Energy Assistance
  Community Action Agency (CAA) manages the fuel assistance program. East Haven Social Services assists clients with their applications. Call the East Haven Senior Center 203–468–3277 to schedule an application appointment from October 1st – May 1st. At our office clients with scheduled appointments are taken first, then walk-ins are assisted on a first-come first-served basis.
• Visit the CT. Dept. of Social Services for ENERGY ASSISTANCE program information, eligibilty requirements, document requirements and applications.
• Short-term Case Management
  Any resident in an emergency situation will meet with a caseworker. Specific needs are addressed and appropriate referrals are made to state and local agencies.

• Renter’s Rebate Program
  Available to elderly (65+) and totally disabled renters who meet income guidelines. Application period is May 15th through September 15th. Call East Haven Senior Center for appointments 203–468–3277.

East Haven Services for Seniors

• The East Haven Senior Center at 91 Taylor Ave. offers information and support services. Call 203–468–3277 for more information or visit the Senior Center page.
• Transportation for 60-year olds and handicapped residents for medical purposes, shopping and banking.
• Daily lunch program
• Recreational field trips.
• Senior exercise programs.
• Meals On Wheels program.
• Senior Drivers’ Improvement Education program.
• Help with income tax forms.
• Monthly web newsletter "Seniors On The Move".
• Social Services Elderly Outreach
  Provides services to frail and homebound residents.
• "Lighthouse Keeping & Company" is a program to assist the frail elderly with light housekeeping. Qualified residents must be at least 60 years old and limited in activites of daily life.
• Family contacts and caregivers support provided.
• Home-site visits.
• Referrals to senior housing, nursing home facilities, and assisted living and congregate housing sites.
• Information about home health agencies.
• Assistance with forms and applications
