ABSENTEE BALLOTS FOR NOVEMBER ELECTION

Absentee Ballot Applications for the Presidential Election November 6, 2012 are now available. Please call the Town Clerk’s Office at 203–468–3201 to request an application.

LANDFILL INFO

As we enter the Fall clean–up season, there seems to be some confusion among a number of residents as to required policies and procedures for obtaining a Landfill pass and entry into the site. Landfill passes are available for purchase at the Town Clerk’s Office (250 Main Street) daily during regular business hours. EFFECTIVE APRIL 12, 2010: YOUR VEHICLE REGISTRATION & BUILDING PERMITS ARE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A LANDFILL VOUCHER.

• Landfill Pass Requirements & Fees
1. You must be a resident of East Haven.
2. Your vehicle registration is required to obtain a landfill pass at the Town Clerk’s Office each time you obtain a pass.
3. If you are a contractor working for an East Haven resident you must present the Building Permits to the Town Clerk and.
4. Each pass is good for only one trip.

Landfill Pass Fees:
• Automobiles designed primarily for private passenger use, SUVs, and passenger plate vans, provided such vehicles are not equipped with a trailer. Free of Charge.
• Single rear wheel axle pickup trucks without modified beds and commercial plate cargo vans. Cost $10.00.
• Pickup trucks with dual rear wheel axles and/or modified beds, and trailers, all of which are less than 12,000 pounds. Cost is $25.00.
• Vehicles larger than pickup trucks, including dump trucks and masonry trucks, and trailers, all of which are 12,000 pounds and over. Cost is $100.00.

SPRING & SUMMER LANDFILL SCHEDULE 2012:
• As of March 2, 2012 the Landfill will be open for residents Fridays and Saturdays from 8:30am to 3:00pm.

• EFFECTIVE APRIL 12, 2010 VEHICLE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A LANDFILL PERMIT.

PLEASE BRING THE REGISTRATION OF THE VEHICLE YOU WILL BE USING TO TRANSPORT DEBRIS TO THE LANDFILL WITH YOU WHEN PURCHASING A LANDFILL PASS AT THE TOWN CLERK’S OFFICE.

• THE REGISTRATION OF THE VEHICLE BEING USED MUST BE PRESENTED EACH TIME A PASS IS BEING PURCHASED (NO EXCEPTIONS).

• EACH PASS IS GOOD FOR ONLY ONE VISIT.

Note 1. A BUILDING PERMIT WILL BE REQUIRED TO DUMP CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AT THE TOWN LANDFILL. When disposing of building materials, a BUILDING PERMIT, must be presented BOTH at the time of purchase AND when going to the Landfill (AGAIN, NO EXCEPTIONS).

Note 2. MATTRESSES ARE NOT ACCEPTED AT THE LANDFILL. THESE ARE TO BE PUT OUT WITH YOUR WEEKLY TRASH PICK UP.
