LAMPP Lead Abatement Project
The Connecticut LAMPP (Lead Action for Medicaid Primary Prevention) project is an early intervention and prevention program to reduce lead hazards for Medicaid eligible children under six years of age. Education to families and their landlords, risk assessments and low-cost interim control measures are used to assist eligible households in accordance with the HUD Lead-Safe Housing Rule. The goal is to protect children before they get lead poisoned, intervene at lower blood lead levels, and prevent exposure to children who will move into the same housing in the future.
LAMPP operates federal lead hazard control grants and a Connecticut bond funded program under contract with the CT Department of Social Services. Awards total $7,950,000 over a three-year period. LAMPP works in the following communities: Bridgeport, Danbury, East Haven, Enfield, Manchester, Meriden, New Britain, New Haven, Norwalk, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, and West Haven.

Regional Rides Program
The Coordinator is involved with the Greater New Haven Transit District (GNHTD) and the South Central Region Council of Governments (SCRCOG) in making improvements to the Town’s Senior and Disable Transportation. The GNHTD, SCRCOG and 15 Town’s from the region including, East Haven, collaborated on a grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation to make necessary improvements to our transportation options. We now have a Regional Rides program that will take our Seniors and Disable residents anywhere within the participating region for both personal and medical purposes. The Coordinator is currently in the process of establishing an additional fixed bus route and additional bus shelters in collaboration with the GNHTD and the East Haven Senior Advisory Board.
• To apply to participate in the GNHTD Regional Rides Program please contact the Coordinator or stop into the office for an application.
Emergency Food and Shelter Program
The Coordinator collaborated with the Town of East Haven Department of Social Services and applied to the Greater New Haven United Way Emergency Food and Shelter Program to provide Emergency Food Vouchers, Utilities Assistance and Emergency Shelter to continue to assist families in East Haven. The Town has received funding from the GNHUW for the past two years ($4,950 & $5,000 respectively) and have again requested $5,000 and is awaiting funding.
