THE SHORE LINE TROLLEY MUSEUM ANNOUNCES JULY EVENTS

The Shore Line Trolley Museum is pleased to announce their July 2018 special event calendar.  In addition to trolleys running 11AM – 4PM, Tuesday through Sunday, the Museum is hosting several special events.  
 
Kids ride FREE on Independence Day - Visit the Shore Line Trolley Museum on July 4 and get one child FREE admission with one paid admission.   
 
Children’s Story Hour – Every
Tuesday during the month of July at 11AM. - This exciting program provides an opportunity for children 4 to 8 years of age to listen to a story in a real trolley car. The day begins with a trolley ride at 11AM (please be on time!) along our trolley line through the salt marsh possibly seeing Osprey, Herons, Egrets, Swans and other wildlife before returning to the trolley yard. Here, board our historic “Story Trolley” to listen to each week’s children’s story, read by one of our volunteer educators, followed by time to explore the other trolley cars on display.In addition to the reading program, each child will receive a snack and a drink. You can also bring your own lunch to enjoy at our picnic area. A parent or adult chaperone is required to accompany all children. Each week we will read from different stories, come check them out!
 
Christmas in July, Saturday, July 21 - Start your shopping early with our first annual Christmas in July Craft Fair. Local artisans will be featured along with face painting, AND a visit from Santa from noon until 1PM. There’s gifts for all seasons so stop by!No admission to craft fair, regular admission fee for trolley rides and tours.
 
Guest Operator Weekend, July 21 & 22 (reservations are required to be a guest operator) - If you’ve always wanted to run a streetcar or subway train, take advantage of this opportunity at the Shore Line Trolley Museum by signing up for the Guest Operator program. You’ll be given an overview of operating principles by one of our instructors. Then it will be your turn to take the handles and operate solo! Don’t worry, you won’t have any regular passengers, just you, your instructor, and your invited guests.
 
National Trolley Festival, Saturday, July 28 - This event showcases some of our collection in motion and many of these cars aren’t normally seen running for the public! Experience the golden age of transportation as trolley cars from the turn of the last century parade by. Watch the “work horses” of the US streetcar era such as antique repair, emergency and snow plows rumble past. Feel the awe-inspiring power of vintage subway equipment pass through. This once a year event provides all day photo ops and rail art-in-motion parades. Parades will include a short narration on each vehicle and is certain to please history buffs, photographers and rail fans young and old. Reservations aren’t required, but you should plan on arriving ½ hour early for the start of each parade.  Parades start at 11:30am and 2:00pm.
