ALICE "GO" Bucket Event - In collaboration with the East Haven Police and Fire Department, East Haven Public Schools

For Immediate Release

EAST HAVEN, CT (07/22/2022): In collaboration with the East Haven Police and Fire Department, East Haven Public Schools began training in November of 2019 to adopt a new strategy for lockdown procedures known as ALICE. ALICE is an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate.  Since 2019 additional Police Officers, Fire Personnel and EHPS staff have been certified as ALICE instructors.  In May of 2022 all East Haven Public School faculty and staff were trained in school building preparation to train students upon their return in August for the 2022-2023 school year.

As part of this crisis response initiative, volunteers from the EHPD, EHFD, EHPS and Team Depot, the Home Depot’s associate volunteer force,  will come together with the community on August 9, 2022 to put together 400 “Go-Buckets”.  The buckets will be placed in instructional spaces in all East Haven schools across the district.

Since each crisis or emergency is unique, the “Go Buckets” will have a variety of materials that can be used in the classroom or travel with the class during an emergency evacuation. “Go Buckets” will be prepared and distributed thanks to the generous donation of The Home Depot Foundation valued over $17,000.
