FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (East Haven, Connecticut)

November 19, 2020

Official Release

Office of the Mayor of East Haven

Re: Department of Public Works-COVID-19

We have been informed that one (1) of the employees of the Department of Public Works (“DPW”) has tested positive for COVID-19, and that a second employee is now believed to have been infected as a result. The East Shore Heath District and Emergency Management Director are urgently evaluating the situation and continue to perform the necessary contact tracing; those impacted individuals have been asked to undergo testing and are currently quarantined. As of this writing, we believe that nine (9) members of the DPW have been impacted in total.

Like our many neighboring communities, we work diligently every day to keep our workforce and all the members of our community safe. We have for some time arranged our DPW crew into small groups in an effort to limit the impact of a potential COVID-positive diagnosis; DPW’s remaining crews have been further segregated in response to this incident. No members of the public have had contact with the COVID-positive individuals in question.

We do not anticipate any work delays.

Mayor Joseph A. Carfora
