Tuesday June 14th is Flag Day.

Harry R Bartlett American Legion Post 89 is proud to invite the public to a formal Flag Retirement Ceremony conducted by East Haven Girl Scout Troop 60066 under the leadership of Cheryl Adkins.

Come and witness the honor and reverence given a flag that has done its duty in service. Flags are retired, or formally destroyed by acceptable methods when they become unusable. Commonly, flags will fade, rip or tear, and will require replacement with a fresh and brightly colored flag or bunting.

Troop 60066 will lead us in the formal rite of stripping the old and unusable flag of it  stripes and stars and destroying the flag by fire.  Persons who have flags that require destruction may bring them to the event.  They will be collected by the American Legion Post 89 for future retirement. 

Light refreshments will follow the ceremony.
