Senior Center & Social Services

Happy Holidays !!! With the Season now upon us, I would like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of the Senior Center and to extend my best wishes to you and your family for a happy and safe holidays and New Year.

I am pleased to announce that the Senior Center was recently awarded a grant from the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut. This grant will enable the Senior Center to provide a six (6) session Health and Wellness Education program during 2023. Topics will include health issues, nutrition, exercise and estate planning, and is designed to aid in the overall well-being and quality of life for East Haven seniors and their family.

In other news, Senior Center fitness instructor CJ Cofrancesco recently purchased additional fitness equipment on behalf of the Senior Center that will allow him to offer additional exercise classes in 2023. These classes will be an extension of his popular "Better Balance" class.

Recently the Senior Center was honored to help celebrate Lillian Belenardo's 102nd birthday. Lillian, who is a regular participant at the Senior Center, was celebrated with a special set of bingo games, a birthday cake and a proclamation by Mayor Carfora.

Sadly, the Senior Center lost three long time members: Barbara Celotto, Ana Melendez and Barbara Roberts. Each was an absolute delight to be around and will not be forgotten.

With the holidays also comes cold and flu season, and the health and safety of all Senior Center participants remains a priority. The Senior Center asks all participants to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines including masking, staying socially distant and proper hygiene (wash those hands!)

As always, please do not hestitate to call the East Haven Senior Center at 203-468-3277 if you or anyone you know have questions or need assistance. Again, Happy Holidays !!
