Senior Center & Social Services

With summer fast approaching, the Senior center is making great progress!

I am very pleased to report that we have added a new exercise course-Chair Yoga-led by instructor Jo McIntosh. Jo has over 25 years of experience teaching Yoga. In addition to her own Yoga studio, Jo is an instructor at the Soundview YMCA in Branford. Yoga offers many physical and mental health benefits, such as increased strength, improved balance, more flexibility and enhanced well being. Chair Yoga is a class for everyone-beginners to Yoga veterans-and all are encouraged to participate.

Exciting Special Events were hosted by the Senior Center recently. The first event, "Bongo and the Butler" featured a special set of bingo games and refreshments, followed by a presentation by former White House Butler and author Alan DeValerio. Alan, who served as a White House butler under the Reagan and HW Bush presidencies, told the audience a host of interesting stories from his time at the White House. The second events featured comedian and magician Jim Sisti. Jim's interactive show featured sllight of hand magic and mind reading, as was greatly enjoyed by all.

As COVID numbers and mandates continue to change, the health and safety of all at the Senior Center remains a priority. If you wish to wear a mask at the Senior Center for your health and safety, and that of others please do so. Everyone is encouraged to use the Purell hand sanitizing stations located throughout the Senior Center. All equipment and areas of use continue to be cleaned after each use. Any individual who does not feel well, or who is experiencing symptopms of COVID-19, should not enter the Senior Center. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

As always, please do not hesitate to call the East Haven Senior Center at 203-468-3277 if you, or anyone you know, have any questions or need assistance.
