Town of East Haven Farmers Market– Press Release For Immediate Release

The East Haven Farmers Market will return to this summer and will be held on the East Haven Town Green. The market will be held on Sunday’s and Wednesday’s from 8:30-noon starting on July 19^th through October 4^th.

“Our residents depend on farmers’ markets for fresh, local foods, and vendors depend on them as an outlet through which to sell products. Keeping these markets open while maintaining public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic is a priority” stated Mayor Carfora.

 Under the guidance of the Department of Agriculture and East Shore District Health there are special rules of operation that will be followed and we encourage anyone with an underlying health condition not to attend the market. The following rules will be followed.  

Rules for 2020 East Haven Farmers Market:

1. We will have vendor tables spaced at least six feet apart to maintain social distancing. 
2. Customers cannot touch produce before buying and provide signage to help enforce that.  
3. No vendor will be allowed to set up who shows any obvious signs of illness.
4. All tables will be sanitized before the market and appropriately throughout the market hours. 
5. We will encourage any vendors and customers with underlying Health issues to not attend the market. 
6. All vendors must wear protective face coverings and gloves while at the market and customers should wear protective face covering.

The goal is to ensure public safety, promote the purchase of local foods and support local farmers and economies at a challenging moment.
