ITALIAN – AMERICAN HERITAGE PARADE KICKOFF EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY, MAY 26TH

The Town of East Haven and Laura Florio Luzzi, Chairman of the Greater New Haven Italian-American Heritage Committee and has announced that this year’s Parade Kickoff Party will be held on Thursday, May 26th. The party will be hosted at Beachside Restaurant (Silver Sands Beach Club) located at 640 Silver Sands Road, in East Haven. The event will feature buffet dinner, coffee, dessert, and door prizes which will run from 5-8 pm. Cash Bar available.

Tickets may be purchased in advance from chairpersons Michelle Benivegna at 475-227-4711, Robert Bonanno at 203-645-4162 or Robert Parente 203-675-1588 or at the Town Hall. Tickets are $35. On behalf of our entire Committee, we cannot express enough thanks to the Silver Sands Beach Club for generously offering to host this kick-off event and the support throughout the Community. The occasion is a significant fundraiser for the Committee as all proceeds will be used for this year’s Italian-American Parade, which is being held in East Haven on Sunday October 9th beginning at 1:00 pm.

Since 2003, the parade became a regional event hosted on a rotating basis among six area communities, which include East Haven, Hamden, West Haven, Branford, New Haven and North Haven. The Greater New Haven Italian-American Parade Committee remains the organizer of this program, with the annual assistance from each hosting community. The East Haven parade route will be announced in the coming weeks.

Volunteers will also be needed for planning and the coordinating of the parade. Please contact the Town of East Haven if you would like to assist in the parade. To march in the parade any group or organization must complete the parade application form which can be obtained on the web: www.columbusdaynewhaven.org or by emailing: Michelle Benivegna at mbenivegna@townofeasthavenct.org or by calling Mayor Carfora’s office, at 203- 468-3204
