Parking Ban Notice

January 28, 2022
The Town of East Haven is expecting a significant snow storm that may bring heavy snow, strong winds and coastal flooding. The storm will begin this evening and continue through until Saturday afternoon. This storm is expected to impact travel, making it very difficult if not impossible to drive, these hazardous conditions could impact driving this evening and into Saturday. Parking bans will go into effect from the start of snowfall and for 36 hours thereafter. Our public works department has been preparing for the storm all week and the fleet of plow trucks are ready to go and they will be working throughout the event clearing roads to make sure there will be as few interruptions as possible. If you can, please stay home so our dedicated workers can get an early start on cleaning our streets.
Our Police and Fire Departments are prepared and ready to respond if needed.

Thank you and stay safe.
Mayor Joseph A. Carfora

REGARDING PARKING BAN ORDINANCES SEC. 11-46, 11-47, 11-48

AT THE START OF A SNOW EVENT, WHEN SNOW BEGINS TO FALL, A PARKING BAN WILL BE IN EFFECT:

All vehicles shall be required to be moved to off-street facilities (driveways, etc.) where such off-street facilities are available.

Otherwise, vehicles shall be permitted to park only on the EVEN numbered sides of streets, unless otherwise posted.

THE PARKING BAN SHALL REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL 36 HOURS AFTER THE SNOW EVENT HAS ENDED

During especially large and/or dangerous events; in the event the Mayor declares a “SNOW EMERGENCY”, this ban can be extended and the Mayor or Chief of Police can order the removal of all vehicles from any or all streets within the town to permit snow removal. This will enable the Public Services Department to properly and efficiently clear each street.
