VVA FIREWORKS-BEACH PARTY TO FEATURE “JOURNEY” TRIBUTE BAND-----16TH ANNUAL EVENT SCHEDULED FOR SATURDAY JUNE 25TH

Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484 and Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. have announced that this year’s 16th Annual Fireworks/Beach Party celebration will also feature a musical tribute to the ever popular American Rock Band, Journey, performed by the “The Idol Kings”. This year’s event will take place on Saturday June 25th.  The festivities will once again include another fun-filled day of food, music and live entertainment, which will begin at 12 noon and continue right up to launch time (approximately 9 pm). The rain date, which will be limited entertainment and the fireworks, will be Monday June 27th.

Through the generosity of PMA Companies, the VVA and the Town will be presenting “The Idol Kings” beginning approximately at 7:15 pm. This year leading up to the Fireworks show will be a special patriotic musical tribute to America’s Veterans, entitled “Rob and Karen’s salute to America’s Heroes”.

The Fireworks event once again is taking place on a Saturday, which was requested by many of the residents who regularly attend. In addition to musical performances which will begin at noon, WPLR-FM 99.1 will be on the town beach adding to the entertainment. A limited number of food vendors and concessionaires will be in the immediate area. Food will also be available from the Sandpiper Restaurant, located directly across from the Town Beach on Cosey Beach Avenue.

As a reminder, street access to the beach will be limited beginning at 10 am.  Cosey Beach Avenue will be closed from the intersection of Second Avenue to Philips Street.  Similarly, Coe Avenue will be closed from the Bradford Street intersection to the beach.  The East Haven Police Department will be posting notices and directing motorists in and around the general vicinity of the town beach.

Although the fireworks are presented in a cooperative effort with the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484 and the Town of East Haven, the majority of funding is obtained from private businesses and some personal donations.  To that end, donations may be mailed to VVA Fireworks 2016 c/o Mayor’s Office, 250 Main Street, East Haven, CT 06512.
